Sugar Cookies by Lesley

¾ c shortening (part butter)

1 c sugar

½ tsp lemon flavor or vanilla

2 ½ c flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 eggs

Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and flavoring; add blended dry ingredients. Chill at least 1 hour; Roll 1/8” thick on lightly floured board; cut with cookie cutters, bake 6-8 minutes and decorate.

When my daughter Lesley was a little girl, she was determined to make good sugar cookies. Mine were a miserable failure! This is what she came up with. They are yummy!
